The experience
Tree-climbing lions, huge baboon troops and flamingo-pink shallows under the Rift Valley wall.
We collect you from your hotel in Moshi, Arusha or Mto wa Mbu and drive west through the Rift Valley, with the escarpment rising on one side and the lake opening on the other.
We enter the park and follow the shore, where buffalo and wildebeest graze, flamingos tint the shallows pink and elephants move between the forest and the water.
A short walk or slow drive through the lush groundwater forest, listening to colobus monkeys and looking for the famous tree-climbing lions before stopping at the hippo pool.
We find a quiet spot for a picnic lunch, with the Rift Valley wall behind us and the lake stretching to the horizon.
A final game drive as the afternoon light turns golden, then the drive back to Moshi, Arusha or Mto wa Mbu.
